If I was to give people one piece of advice, one thing to start working on now that would change the course of their lives completely, it would be this: build your own home business.
Why? Well, that’s what this article will tell you in details.
For me, and for millions of people all over the world, this is the ultimate freedom. A way to contribute to the world, but improve our lifestyles and mindsets at the same time. A chance to do work we love, to make money and live well, and yet to work hard without considering it an effort.
If you’re not thinking this too, chances are you have doubts about it, or never really took the time to go through all the benefits. Because if you did, you would be working on it in your free time right now.
We all have what it takes to create a profitable home business, to grow it to the point where it will make an impact on others, will make us financially free and location independent, and will turn us into more productive, focused and purpose-oriented individuals.
But for all that to begin happening, you first need to remove the mental blocks in your mind, to overcome the doubts you might have about starting your own business in today’s economy, making a lot of money from your laptop, and doing work you love while helping other people at the same time.
All that is possible. But you need to know why you’ll be going after all that, why a business matters, and how exactly it can change your lifestyle.
A why is rarely an action taken with anything these days due to so many distractions and insecurities. But you need your why’s, because as Dr John F Demartini says, “When your Why is big enough, the How takes care of itself.”
You now have the chance to change that. I hope that the following 5 items will inspire you enough to do something today and start creating your little empire.
It all begins and ends with you. We’re talking about your life here, and dedicating your precious time and energy to building something out of nothing. That’s why you first need to internalize that by considering the personal why.
Whoever you are, whatever you’ve been through, at some point in your life you felt like there’s more to life than mediocrity, than working for someone else and making them rich, than following rules that don’t make sense and which don’t let you show off your talents and unleash your inner spirit.
Somewhere deep down you know you’re born to do better things with your time, life and skills. And a home business of your own will make this possible.
The second reason why you should consider starting your own home business is that you’ll be changing the global economy.
On one hand, it’s not in a good place right now as technology is replacing human workforce more and more. The result? There are more people looking for jobs (some of which well-educated and with years of experience), but there are fewer positions.
Because of this scarcity of jobs, employees are offering lower wages, and people are accepting them. That makes smart, creative and once hard-working individuals, leave behind their skills and talents, be unproductive, and just spend their days waiting for the workday to be over.
A better outcome of the evolution of technology, however, is that any office work can now be done remotely. With some low cost apps, you can be just as productive (and more relaxed, focused and creative) working from home.
The biggest possibility that we all have thanks to the Internet and all the available tools, though, is that we can create an online business and run it from the comfort of our homes.
So that’s the second big why I’m presenting to you, and I want to make sure you realize what it means.
Some time ago, none of this was possible.
Now, every teenager can become an influencer on a social media channel and start doing sponsored posts to monetize their audience. Anyone with a digital skill can offer it online as a service and make some extra money. Every person with an entrepreneurial mindset can create a strategy, hire some virtual employees, research a market and build a product millions of people might love.
And while some people only think about all the time such a project will take and all the competition that’s already there, others prefer to choose their niche, decide on the first step and get to work.
3. Financial Freedom.
Did you know that only a small percentage of people who are financially free come from wealthy families? And that 69% of the people on the Forbes 400 list became rich after building their own business?
That’s encouraging statistics. And if you think about it, there’s not much stopping you from being on that list some day.
Regardless of where a home business may take you, one thing is sure – you will become financially free.
Let’s take a quick look at people who consider winning the lottery their only chance of getting rich.
Winning that lottery to become financially free is not a great strategy apart from the astronomical odds of winning. Those that take this road are actually worse off after winning.
“Indeed, the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards says nearly a third of lottery winners declare bankruptcy. Meaning, they were worse off than before they became rich. Other studies show that lottery winners frequently become estranged from family and friends, and incur a greater incidence of depression, drug and alcohol abuse, divorce, and suicide than the average American.” (source)
Why does this happen? Mainly because they have not yet developed their personal skills to manage and handle their money and which is why they are not financially free in the first place.
To paraphrase the bible, “Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.”
But this isn’t the case when you put in the hard work first to create a home business, and enjoy the fruits of your labor for the rest of your life.
Even the thought of being financially free, not having any debts or loans, making enough money to sustain a pleasant lifestyle and having the chance to take a vacation anytime you want, is liberating and motivating.
And while building a business isn’t just about money, but also about meaning, contribution, personal transformation and living on your own terms by creating your ideal lifestyle, it just comes as a bonus and lets you take things even further with an increased range of choices money makes possible.
4. Personal growth.
“Starting a business is a great way to kick start your personal growth” – Sharon Kiyosaki
It’s still inexplicable to me in what ways building a home business changes you and your way of thinking, but it really does happen. The transformation happens slowly, but steadily, which means it will last for a long time.
For instance, you need to build discipline, to be your own motivator before you see your first customers, or traffic to your site, or recognition of your brand, or interest in your project. Many people give up early on because they aren’t patient enough, can’t keep their vision alive, let daily life distract them, etc. So it takes a powerful mindset to get through such doubts, interruptions of your work and creative process, and fearing failure and what others might say.
The moment the business takes off, however, is crucial. Then, you start building even better personal qualities, practicing your willpower even more, and learning new skills.
It’s a never-ending process, it turns you into a lifelong learner, and that makes all the difference.
If you haven’t been able to improve yourself so far, but are still a huge fan of personal development, start building a home business today and see yourself turning into this responsible, productive, successful and strategic human being.
There aren’t many better reasons to wake up at 5 am every day and dedicate an hour of focused work to your side hustle (something you believe in, for which you’ll do your research, create a step-by-step plan and work on daily until you see traffic and customers).
In the beginning, you’ll be doing it before and after your day job, while others are sleeping, or during the weekend. Such sacrifices pay off in the long term, but they also make you stronger, let you gain knowledge and experience, change your way of thinking, and prepare you for all the responsibilities that come together with owning and running a home business.
There’s another aspect of that too. Once you’re already a home business owner, you’ll be facing challenges daily and growing and learning from them. You’ll be the one in charge and that means you’ll have to ignore distractions and concentrate on your work, even when you don’t feel like it.
You’ll be getting the boring tasks done connected to the work too, such as tracking, administrative activities, long communication with potential customers, research, managing finances, etc. That builds your character and helps you know your business inside out.
Last but not least, let’s talk about the why that is about more than just yourself.
When you are building a business, you are creating an asset that you can leave to you kids, grandkids or to some worthy cause. This is something you can’t do in a regular job.
You are able to create a legacy that will be around long after you’re gone, serving the generations to come.
Your legacy is the work you’ve done during the course of your life, the actions you’ve taken, the role model you’ve been, the example you’ve given, the inspiration you’ve been for others, and the products you’ve created or the services you’ve offered that have helped make the lives of other people easier and better in some way.
A home business lets you leave such a legacy, and become part of eternity. This gives even more meaning to each and every day of yours. We all need to serve a bigger purpose than our egoistic reasons for living. We all need an ideal to keep in the back of our minds, that will motivate us to overcome desperate moments of hopelessness.
What’s more, I believe every person is born to do share their unique gift and turn it into a business, that leaves a mark in the world, gives him true satisfaction, and makes it all meaningful.
Unfortunately, few follow the right path for them, do what they’re passionate about or dare to aim higher. It’s the doubts and not believing in the 5 why’s I’m talking about here that stop them from achieving more.
All you need to do for a start is believe. The stronger this faith gets, the weaker the doubts will be. Soon, you’ll have full control over them and will simply get them out of your head, and life.
A clearer mind helps you stay focused on the end goal – building a home business and getting out of the system, it helps you take smart decisions fast and act upon them.
In the end of the day, you’ll know you’ve done your best work. That will let you sleep better and wake up early on the next day ready to work even harder on your project.
All this will excite you, because it will be your own business venture. The possibilities that will come your way once you’re in the game are fascinating too.
And in the end of your life, you will really be able to say “I Was Here” by having the courage to create a lifestyle of freedom and independence for yourself and with all the meaningful work you’ve done to help others.
Now that you’re aware of why it’s worth building a home business, even if it takes a lot of mistakes, time and energy, what’s your biggest motivator?
And what can you do first? It’s important to take action today, before regular life gets to you and blinds your judgment.
You hold the power to transform your life!
