We live complex lives these days. We have so many things to do, consume so much information (most of which has nothing to do with us and our path in life), communicate with too many people, surrounded by may devices, have countless thoughts in our heads, long to-do lists, and more belongings at home than we actually need.
All that creates chaos in our days. It doesn’t let us be free, mentally or physically, we have no room to welcome new and better things in our life. Slowly we stop having peace of mind and our happiness and aspirations go away.
Let’s do something about it today. Here’s how to simplify your life:
1. Get Rid of Useless Belongings.
It’s not about how many things you own, it’s about their quality and whether you really need each item.
So take a look at the objects in your home again. Ask yourself ‘Have I used this in the last 6 months?’ If you haven’t, it must go away.
Don’t keep it because it’s sentimental. That’s just an excuse to keep living in the past. You don’t need that possession.
Don’t tell yourself you’re just being prepared for a rainy day. Life is happening now, and if you really haven’t used something for a long time, or ever, you should either give it away, sell it or throw it away.
The result will be amazing, though. You’ll not only have more space in your home, but will find out that a huge burden has been lifted off your shoulders.
Truth is, any belonging needs to be taken care of, to be fixed and cleaned. It brings unnecessary worries too. So why complicate your life this way? Simplify it by getting rid of anything you don’t use.
2. Make Room for Creation.
Part of being a human is the ability to create. We’re born to be creators, but the materialistic and mediocre world we live in distracts us from that mission of ours.
You’re either a creator, or a consumer. Here are some main differences:
- consumers eat fast food, creators prepare their food and enjoy the process;
- consumers spend money and resources, creators make that, and also Drop to that provide for others, create job positions, contribute to the economy by starting a business and create products that offer value to people;
- consumers consume whatever information is in front of them, creators are the ones coming up with it in creative ways and presenting their ideas to the world (be it by writing, designing websites, curating content, making videos and podcasts, etc.).
The better choice is to be a creator. That’s when happiness and success are part of the equation too. But to get back to this side of you, you’ll have to stop doing what consumers do.
3. Drop Anything That Doesn’t Bring You Results.
To simplify your life and home business, and to improve in all areas, you’ll have to remove any task on your list, activity in your day, habit of yours, or else, that doesn’t get you in the right direction or isn’t helping you or others in some way.
To make that happen, identify which of the things you do daily get you closer to your goals, make you happy and productive, and improve your lifestyle. Keep them and stop doing anything else. There’s no time for it.
You can try these simple strategies today. They use the power of elimination, a beautiful and liberating process that lets you remove anything unnecessary from your life, so that you can make room for what matters.
